Harry Agganis Rare Single-Signed American League Baseball PSA DNA. In 1955, Major League Baseball and the Boston Red Sox suffered a significant loss when Harry Agganis, first baseman for the BoSox, passed away mid-season from a pulmonary embolism at only 26. In 1952, Agganis became the first All-American in Boston University's history, not as a ballplayer, but as a quarterback for the Terriers. In 1952, the Cleveland Browns drafted him in the first round, but he passed on football to play baseball for the Boston Red Sox.

In his first season at first base with the BoSox, "the Golden Greek" hit. 251 with 109 hits, including 11 home runs while adding 57 RBIs in 132 games. Sadly, after only 25 games in 1955 when he was hitting.

313, Agganis fell gravely ill in early June and on June 27th, he tragically passed away from a pulmonary embolism. His death sent shockwaves through baseball as players and fans pondered what could have been. Offered here is an extremely rare Harry Agganis single-signed Official American League (Harridge).
